ELIZABETHVILLE, PA — The bats were booming at Ralph Lehman Memorial Field on Tuesday afternoon as the Upper Dauphin Area Varsity Trojans dismantled the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Wolfpack, 14–5, in a Tri-Valley League clash that showcased the home team’s offensive depth.

From the opening pitch, the Trojans looked comfortable on their home dirt. While the Wolfpack managed to scratch across an early run in the first, Upper Dauphin responded with a relentless scoring barrage that peaked in a decisive third inning.

The Engle Explosion

The definitive moment of the contest came in the bottom of the third. With the bases loaded and the Wolfpack clinging to a narrow lead, Karson Engle connected on a towering blast for a Grand Slam. The home run cleared the bases and served as the centerpiece of a six-run surge that shifted the momentum permanently in Upper Dauphin's favor.

Engle’s four RBIs were matched in efficiency by Landen Osenga, who enjoyed a perfect day at the plate. Osenga went 2-for-2 with a double, four runs scored, and two RBIs, constantly putting pressure on the Saint Joseph's defense.

Wolfpack Resilience Falls Short

Despite the lopsided final score, the Wolfpack showed flashes of offensive life. Caleb Foytack was a bright spot for the visitors, going 2-for-2 and crossing the plate twice. Saint Joseph’s briefly threatened in the top of the third, plating three runs to keep the game competitive, but defensive miscues eventually took their toll.

Four errors by the Wolfpack defense allowed the Trojans to extend innings and capitalize on scoring opportunities, a luxury the high-powered Upper Dauphin lineup did not waste.

On the Mound

Connor Wenrich earned the win for the Trojans, providing five solid innings of work. While he surrendered five runs on eight hits, his ability to navigate out of jams and record three key strikeouts kept the Wolfpack from ever mounting a true comeback. Dylan Troutman and Ayden Winstead provided clean relief in the closing frames to seal the victory.

On the opposing side, Thomas Rokita was tagged with the loss after two innings of relief work.

Tactical Edge

The Trojans’ aggression wasn't limited to the batter's box. Upper Dauphin tore up the base paths, recording five stolen bases—including two from Osenga—keeping the Wolfpack battery on high alert all afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • UDA: 14 Runs, 13 Hits, 1 Error

  • SJCA: 5 Runs, 9 Hits, 4 Errors

UP NEXT Upper Dauphin Area looks to carry this offensive momentum into their next league matchup, while Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy returns to the practice field to shore up a defense that proved to be their Achilles' heel in Elizabethville.
