ELIZABETHVILLE — Under heavy cloud cover on Tuesday afternoon at Upper Dauphin Area High School, the Trojans put on a clinic in fundamental softball, riding a dominant performance from Miley Yeager to a 10-2 victory over the visiting Juniata Indians.

Yeager was the story of the day, silencing Juniata’s bats while providing her own run support. On the rubber, the Trojans' ace was nearly untouchable, racking up 13 strikeouts over six innings of work. She surrendered only two hits—both to Juniata’s Sophia Smith—while keeping the Indians' lineup off-balance from the first pitch.

A Powerful Display at the Plate

Despite the overcast skies, the Trojans’ offense brought the heat, pounding out 11 hits. The power was on full display throughout the contest, with the home crowd cheering on a relentless offensive attack that utilized a massive four-run sixth inning to seal the result.

Miley Yeager and Amaya Hoffman both cleared the fences with authoritative home runs, accounting for five of the team's ten RBIs. The Trojans also showed depth in the lineup, with Madelyn McAlanis going 2-for-4 and Mckenna Schaffner contributing an RBI double and a stolen base.

Juniata Struggles to Find Rhythm

The Indians found early life in the first and third innings, scratching across two runs to stay within striking distance. Sophia Smith was the lone bright spot for the Juniata offense, accounting for all three of the team's hits in a 3-for-4 performance.

However, the Indians' defense struggled to contain the UDA pressure, committing three errors that allowed the

Trojans to extend innings. Juniata’s Kayinn Brown took the loss, battling through six innings against a relentless Trojan order that finally broke the game open late.

By The Numbers

  • 14: Total strikeouts recorded by UDA pitchers (Yeager 13, Jury 1).

  • 5: Extra-base hits for the Trojans (2 HR, 3 2B).

  • 3: Hits for Juniata, all coming from Sophia Smith.

With the win, Upper Dauphin continues to solidify its position at the top of the Tri-Valley League standings. The Trojans will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup, while Juniata returns home to regroup after a tough road test.
