HALIFAX — The Millersburg Indians track and field program made a resounding statement at the 2026 Tri-Valley League Championships on Wednesday. While the girls' squad finished as the league runner-up behind host Susquenita, the day was defined by dominant individual performances in the field, headlined by junior standout Kate Rothermel.
Rothermel Claims Field MVP
The highlight of the meet for the Indians was the crowning of Kate Rothermel as the TVL Girls Field Event MVP. Rothermel’s versatility was on full display as she secured two individual gold medals and a silver, single-handedly accounting for a massive portion of the team’s 136 points.
Rothermel took flight in the jumping events, winning the High Jump with a mark of 4-10.00 and claiming the Long Jump title with a leap of 15-06.75. She nearly completed the triple crown of jumps, finishing second in the Triple Jump with a distance of 33-09.75. To cap off her iron-woman performance, she also anchored the 4x400 relay team to a silver-medal finish.
Strength in the Circles
While Rothermel handled the jumps, Reagan Wentzel and Jacelyn Henninger continued Millersburg’s tradition of "Thrower U" dominance. Wentzel swept the heavy metal, taking gold in both the Shot Put (36-06.75) and the Discus (107-01).
The Indians occupied three of the top four spots in the Discus, with Henninger taking silver and Vivian Romberger placing fourth. Romberger also added a silver in the Javelin (104-08), proving that Millersburg's field depth is currently unmatched in the conference.
