DUNCANNON, PA — In a mid-week Tri-Valley League clash that saw momentum swing wildly through the middle weights, Upper Dauphin Area eventually proved too deep for Susquenita, walking away with a 48–21 victory on Wednesday night.
The Trojans benefited from a massive late-match surge and several critical forfeits to overcome a spirited comeback attempt by the Blackhawks on their home mats.
Early Advantage for the Trojans
The dual meet began with Upper Dauphin jumping out to a quick 12–0 lead, courtesy of forfeits at 100 and 106 pounds by Audrina Hoover and Cambrie Herb. With the Blackhawks unable to fill the lower weights, the Trojans established a comfortable cushion before the first whistle even blew.
The Blackhawks Strike Back
Susquenita didn't stay down for long. Starting at 112 lbs, the Blackhawks ignited a rally that electrified the home crowd. JoLee Zimmerman put Susquenita on the board in dominant fashion, earning an 18–3 technical fall over Myleigh Ganunis.
That momentum continued at 118 lbs when Jada Bert pinned Layla Smith in the second period. While Upper Dauphin’s Jenna Teeter temporarily silenced the rally with a lightning-fast 34-second pin at 124 lbs, Susquenita went right back to work. Kaylee Dayhoff (130 lbs) secured a gritty 17–8 major decision, and Jacque Brown (136 lbs) capped off the run by pinning Kaia Snyder to give Susquenita their first lead of the night at 21–18.
UDA Slams the Door
The lead was short-lived, however, as Upper Dauphin’s depth took over the final stretch of the night. After a forfeit at 142 lbs returned the lead to the Trojans, Jacelyn Henninger delivered the "dagger" at 148 lbs. Henninger needed just 33 seconds to pin Savannah Crist, effectively swinging the momentum back to the UDA corner for good.
Isabella Latshaw followed up with another first-period fall at 155 lbs. With Susquenita unable to field wrestlers at 190 or 235 lbs, the Trojans coasted through the final bouts to finalize the 48–21 margin.
