ELIZABETHVILLE, PA – The Upper Dauphin Area (UDA) Trojans Girls Basketball team launched the 2025-2026 season with an explosive offensive performance, defeating the Selinsgrove Seals 50-20 last night. The decisive victory was highlighted by exceptional perimeter shooting and marked the first career win for new Head Coach Denise Smeltz.
The Trojans drained a total of nine three-pointers on the night, establishing a high-powered tone for the season and leaving no doubt about the outcome.
Dynamic Duo Fuels 3-Point Barrage
UDA's scoring was powered by a dynamic backcourt that delivered a combined 35 points of the team's total.
Sophomore Alana Bingaman (#2) led all scorers with a game-high 21 points. Bingaman was lights out from beyond the arc, sinking four three-pointers, and adding 1-for-2 shooting from the free-throw line.
Joining her was Delaney Smeltz (#10), who put up 14 points. Smeltz matched Bingaman’s effort from downtown, hitting four three-pointers of her own, showcasing the Trojans' overwhelming deep-range threat.
The team's dominant shooting helped secure the lead early. UDA went into halftime up 22-10, and then broke the game open in the third quarter with a 16-7 run. The suffocating defense held Selinsgrove to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.
