ELIZABETHVILLE – The Upper Dauphin Area (UDA) girls wrestling team reached the mountaintop on Wednesday night, officially clinching the Tri-Valley League title with a commanding 54-15 victory over Juniata High School.

The win not only secures the championship hardware but also preserves the Lady Trojans' perfect season. With the victory, UDA finishes their league campaign with a flawless 4-0 record and improves to a stellar 7-0 overall on the season.

Dominance from the Start

The night opened with Cambrie Herb (100 lbs) taking a hand-raise for a forfeit, immediately putting the Trojans on the board. While Juniata briefly leveled the score after a forfeit at 106, the momentum shifted back to UDA as soon as the wrestlers stepped onto the mat.

Myleigh Ganunis (112) and Jada Dillard (124) provided the fireworks for the Trojans, both securing emphatic falls. Dillard was particularly efficient, needing only 1:29 to put her opponent’s shoulders to the mat. The most pivotal match of the night came at 136 lbs, where Calli Clark delivered a clutch pin at the 2:52 mark, effectively slamming the door on any Juniata comeback.

Gritty Bouts and Quick Strikes

Despite the scoreline, Juniata showed flashes of resilience. Madison Bryner (118) recorded the fastest pin of the evening, stopping the clock in just 1:18.

The highlight of the technical matchups occurred at 130 lbs, where Juniata’s Brea Beward edged out Kaia Snyder in a nail-biting 4-3 decision. It was a back-and-forth battle that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats, serving as a reminder of the competitive spirit within the Tri-Valley League.

Depth Seals the Deal

As the meet progressed into the heavier weight classes, the Trojans’ depth proved insurmountable. Juniata was forced to concede five consecutive forfeits from 142 to 190 lbs. Jacelyn Henninger, Marjorie Hoffman-Long, Kristen Rosado, Isabella Latshaw, and Chloe Ratcliffe all secured six points for the team without a contest, turning the meet into a runaway victory and cementing UDA's status as league champions.

The Road Ahead: Postseason and the "Road to Hershey"

With the league title safely in Elizabethville, the Lady Trojans now shift their focus to a demanding postseason schedule to protect their undefeated streak and hunt for more gold.

  • This Weekend: The team travels to the prestigious Bald Eagle Area Tournament. This tournament features some of the top talent in the state and will serve as a crucial litmus test for UDA’s wrestlers as they prepare for individual postseason runs.

  • February 4th: The Trojans are eagerly awaiting the release of the final District III Girls Rankings. These will determine the seeding and location for the first-ever District III Girls Dual Meet Tournament.

  • The Road to Hershey: The individual postseason officially kicks off on Friday, February 13th. The Lady Trojans will travel to Susquenita High School to compete in the Sectional Tournament, the first step in the journey toward the state championships in Hershey.

As girls' wrestling continues its historic growth in Pennsylvania, the Lady Trojans enter the postseason with high expectations and looking to gain respect across District III and the State.
