The Upper Dauphin Area girls' basketball team (now 3-2 overall) announced their presence in the Tri-Valley League (TVL) on Monday night, opening their league schedule with a commanding 65-21 victory over rival Millersburg (0-2 overall)
The Trojans used a balanced scoring attack and suffocating defense to secure the 44-point win on their home court.
Fast Start Puts Game Away Early
Upper Dauphin wasted no time establishing control, jumping out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter. They maintained the offensive pressure in the second, heading into halftime with a comfortable 37-16 advantage.
The second half saw the Trojans ramp up their defensive intensity, holding the Millersburg Indians to single digits in both remaining quarters (3Q: 13-3, 4Q: 15-2). The defensive clampdown ensured the win was never in doubt.
Trojans Led by Bingaman and Rothermel
Upper Dauphin’s scoring was spread across ten different players, led by a trio who reached double digits:
Alana Bingaman led all scorers with a game-high 17 points. Bingaman was effective from the perimeter, draining four three-pointers in the contest.
Junior Kate Rothermel dominated the paint, contributing 12 points on six two-point field goals.
Paige Williams added 10 points, helping fuel the Trojans' efficient offense, which included five total three-pointers as a team.
Delaney Smeltz also provided a strong contribution with 10 points.
Millersburg Scoring Struggle
The Millersburg Indians struggled to find answers against the relentless Trojans defense. They were led in scoring by Drue Bailey, who registered 5 points. Ruthie Wilt, Kennadie Miller, and Haylen Mongold each chipped in 2 points apiece for the Indians.
