HALIFAX, PA — The Upper Dauphin Area Trojans girls' basketball team delivered a commanding performance on Monday night, December 15, defeating the Halifax Wildcats 46-27 in a Tri-Valley Athletic Association (TVAA) matchup. The Trojans used a decisive run in the second quarter and consistent scoring from their top players to secure the road victory and build momentum for a pivotal divisional clash later this week.

While the game started as a tight contest with Upper Dauphin holding a slight 8-7 edge after the first period, the Trojans' defense locked down in the second quarter. They held Halifax to just five points while pouring in 14 of their own, creating a double-digit cushion they would not relinquish.

Offense Fired Up

Upper Dauphin’s victory was a true team effort, led by a trio of top scorers who accounted for over 70% of the team's total points.

  • Delaney Smeltz led all scorers with 13 points, showcasing her efficiency from the free-throw line by sinking all four of her attempts.

  • Alana Bingaman was a key contributor, adding 10 points to the scorebook.

  • Kate Rothermel rounded out the top scorers with 8 points, demonstrating a strong inside presence.

The Trojans maintained their momentum in the second half, posting 14 points in the third quarter and 10 in the final frame to stay comfortably ahead. Their balanced attack and ability to convert free throws proved too much for the Wildcats.

Pivotal Divisional Showdown Looms

The win builds crucial momentum as the Trojans prepare for a major test on Thursday, December 18, when they host the Susquenita Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks enter the contest as a formidable opponent, leading the Eastern Division of the TVAA with a perfect 3-0 league record and an impressive 5-1 overall record. For the Trojans, this home game presents a critical opportunity to make a statement in the divisional standings and challenge the Blackhawks' early dominance.
