COCOLAMUS — Behind a sharp-shooting performance from Carolyn Dressler and a commanding presence in the paint by Landyn Cramer, the East Juniata Tigers secured a convincing 48-32 victory over the Upper Dauphin Trojans on Monday night.
The Tri-Valley League clash, held at East Juniata High School, saw the Tigers control the tempo from the opening tip, utilizing a stifling defense to build a double-digit halftime lead that the Trojans simply couldn't overcome.
Early Advantage
East Juniata set the tone in the first half, outscoring Upper Dauphin 22-9. The Tigers’ defense was particularly effective in the second quarter, holding the Trojans to a mere four points.
Sharpshooters and Standouts
Junior guard Carolyn Dressler led all scorers with 16 points, including three critical three-pointers that deflated Upper Dauphin’s comeback attempts. Landyn Cramer added 13 points, doing much of her damage in the interior and earning seven trips to the free-throw line.
The Trojans attempted to climb back into the game in the third quarter, narrowly out-pacing the Tigers 9-8, but East Juniata regained their stride in the fourth. The Tigers exploded for 18 points in the final frame to put the game out of reach.
For Upper Dauphin, Alana Bingaman and Paige Williams each contributed 9 points, with Bingaman finding success from deep with three long-range buckets. However, the Trojans struggled at the charity stripe, finishing with only one made free throw compared to the Tigers’ eleven.
