ELIZABETHVILLE, PA – The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes stormed the court at the UDA Boys Tip-Off Tournament Championship on Saturday, delivering a commanding performance to defeat the host Upper Dauphin Area (UDA) team with a final score of 67-40. The Hurricanes' potent offense and solid defense proved too much for the Trojans, securing them the tournament crown.

From the opening whistle, Schuylkill Haven asserted their dominance, establishing a significant lead by halftime. They outscored UDA 24-9 in the first quarter and continued their offensive surge with another 22 points in the second, taking a formidable 46-18 lead into the locker room.

Hurricanes' Dominant Duo 🌪️

The Hurricanes' championship victory was powered by the phenomenal scoring of two junior guards, Alan Evans and Justin Watcher.

Alan Evans was the leading scorer with 26 points. His diverse offensive attack included four 2-point field goals and a massive five 3-pointers, making him the key perimeter threat. He capped off his night with a perfect 3-for-3 performance from the free-throw line.

Fellow junior guard Justin Watcher followed closely with 25 points. He was dominant inside the arc, scoring exclusively with nine 2-point field goals, and was reliable at the charity stripe, hitting 7 of his 10 free throws.

The combined 51 points from Evans and Watcher accounted for the majority of Schuylkill Haven's scoring, proving to be an unstoppable force against the Trojans' defense.

Upper Dauphin Area Scoring Leaders

Upper Dauphin Area struggled to find their rhythm offensively, particularly in the first half. They were led in scoring by Landon Savage, who recorded 9 points, and Braden Foraker, who added 8 points. UDA's players also demonstrated consistency at the free-throw line, where they sank 13 of their 20 attempts. Despite their best efforts, the Trojans were unable to contain Schuylkill Haven's scoring duo or mount a consistent comeback, and the early deficit proved insurmountable.
